MIGAS has a fantastic opportunity for a couple of 2nd or 3rd year Fitter & Turner apprentices to continue their apprenticeship with a company based at Brendale on Brisbanes Northside. To be considered for this position you must have all TAFE up to date and your training record book. You will work full time whilst completing a Certificate 3 in Engineering Mechanical (Fitting and Turning).
Majority of work is performed on fabricated new machinery, although there is a solid exposure to servicing and reconditioning work as well. Some of your job duties will include but not be limited to;

bending of drive tubes

remaking hydraulic hoses
-
minor hydraulic diagnostics and plumbing

positional and component welding with MIG and TIG
-
compression testing
-
you will gain exposure to work on a variety of machinery

minor auto electrical diagnostics and board assembly
-
drive motor reconditioning or upgrading
To be successful you will have high safety awareness, a good degree of mechanical aptitude, and an interest in machinery and how things work. Exposure to the industry is desired, you must be passionate about trade.
Your working hours will be 7:00am until 4:15pm (but may vary) Monday to Friday with overtime as required you will be entitled to an RDO once a fortnight. Public transport is available, a forklift licence is preferred and a current drivers licence is essential.
