A municipality located south west of Melbourne are strategically recruiting within its City Development department and are after a Principal Statutory Planner with a sound knowledge of the Victorian legislation/acts. 

Due to a senior member going on maternity leave this 12 month contract appointment will be required to take over an existing portfolio, whilst also continuously been delegated complex projects to manage autonomously.

 This position is ideal for a planner looking for an opportunity to excel their career and gain valuable networks for future full time employment.
 
Your key responsibilities will be:

• To provide timely and accurate advice to developers and the general public in relation to the interpretation and implementation of the Victorian Planning Schemes, relevant acts ie. Planning and Environment act, Subdivision act, and council policies and practices.
• Investigate and evaluate various complex development applications within a team environment to determine compliance with the relevant legislation. 
• Represent council in public forums, legal proceedings and appeal hearings etc.
• Contribute to weekly team meetings by discussing and providing advice on new comprehensive planning applications that come through.
