Our client was established nearly a hundred years ago in Australia and is a part of a large world wide group consisting of hundreds of decentralised businesses within 50 plus countries. This is an interesting batch continuous manufacturing environment which includes roll forming, heat treatment and alloy plating production processes. This stable employer has a very low turnover of staff many of which have been with the organisation 15 years or more which is a testament to the healthy culture and friendly environment. You will be expected to drive improvement in safety, cost control, delivery, plant efficiencies & capacity in order to improve business profitability and the relationships with internal and external customers. Amongst other things you will be responsible for: - Direct Management of a small team of Maintenance and Engineering staff
- Implementing lean manufacturing principles to continually improve operations and processes
- Providing leadership for all projects relating to re-layouts, new equipment, problem solving, quality and other operational improvements
- Initiating studies to improve manufacturing systems, reviewing performance and addressing potential operating problems
You should ideally have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience coupled with an engineering degree and possess the necessary technical aptitude to proactively enhance the overall performance and efficiency of the site. Experience running improvement initiatives and “in plant” logistics and materials handling projects within a manufacturing environment will be highly regarded. Your excellent communication skills as well as your ability to organise and manage people in order to drive Continuous Improvement within projects and the overall culture will be tested. The profile of the person most suitable for this position would be a confident self starter, who is self managed, self motivated and who displays a high degree of initiative and technical ability to challenge the status quo.
