My Client is a leading operation in the provision of services to the food industry. Reporting to the Section Leader Pathogen Follow Up your new role as Team Leader is directly responsible for coordinating the day-to-day work and labour resources of the laboratory. This interesting and varied role is responsible for ensuring customer service expectations are met and that the area operates to appropriate quality and safety standards.

Your major responsibilities are;

• Maintaining a safe working environment
• Supervision of staff and allocation of work
• Liaising with all Microbiology Sections and Client Services
• Controlling labour hours and overtime
• Developing training plans and assist in training, which requires you to have a good understanding of tests performed in your area
• Overseeing the maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Control of laboratory stock and consumables

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Experience in a Team Leader position within a laboratory environment minimum of 1-2 years
• Minimum of 3 years microbiology laboratory experience preferably with food testing experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong customer focus
• Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills
• Strong team building and leadership attributes

You can chose to work either from Monday to Friday or from Thursday to Monday as the laboratory operates 7 days a week (2 shifts M-F) and one shift Saturday and Sunday. You will be required to do some after hours work / on call for which you are paid overtime. You will be paid a competitive wage plus super plus overtime.
